The New Peugeot 308 - A New Generation of Peugeot Engines

The PSA Peugeot Citroen Group's innovation policy applies equally to the engines themselves and to the anti-pollution techniques employed by them. Developed to the highest technological standards, PSA Peugeot Citroen engines provide the power that drivers expect and desire, but with significantly reduced consumption. This results in minimal fuel costs and maximum driving pleasure.

Petrol Engines in Cooperation with the BMW Group

Partnering with the BMW Group, PSA Peugeot Citroen has employed all the latest technological advances in developing its family of petrol engines. Ranging from 95 bhp to 150 bhp, the engines set new standards in performance and driving pleasure. They also feature reduced consumption and lower carbon dioxide (CO²) emissions. The new THP (Turbo High Pressure) technology facilitates a remarkable balance between performance and consumption, thanks to its turbo compressor and high-pressure, direct injection system. The Peugeot 308 VTI engines come with Variable Valve Timing technology which adds variable lift for the intake valves, improving the engine's thermodynamic performance and its consumption. Also designed with the BMW Group, Peugeot's 1.6 litre Turbo Direct Injection petrol engine won a prestigious prize from Motor International in 2007 in the 1.4 litre - 1.8 litre category.

The New Peugeot 308 has only one reason for being - its occupants.

The 308 has one of the most effective protection systems available. This includes shock absorption, front seat belts with pyrotechnic pretensioners and up to 9 airbags around the cabin. The 308 is equipped with a complete system to ensure your total safety: optimised suspension, powerful brakes, intelligent lighting, electrically assisted steering, ABS, EBFD, emergency brake assist with electronic stability program and ASR anti-slip regulation.

Think of Tomorrow - Today

As part of the research and development programme, the Peugeot 308 range will benefit from the hybrid HDi technology. This allows improvements of around 30% in consumption by using an additional, electric motor that takes over at low speed.

95% of the Peugeot 308 is recyclable at the end of its life.

On the 308, the cruise control* is managed from the steering wheel. This means you can select and maintain a constant speed without having to press the accelerator.  You can also use the speed limiter* which lets you programme the speed you do not wish to exceed. The tyre pressure detectors* warn you if the pressure is low or if you have a puncture. When you put the car into reverse, this activates the automatic direction* of the rear view mirrors towards the bottom of the boot (an option in the visibility pack) and the audible and visual rear parking sensor* (*on selected models).

In the Peugeot 308, nothing obscures the view. Peugeot is the first car manufacturer to provide a saloon with such a large glass roof. The 0.83 m² panoramic roof* reduces the transmission of solar energy and provides incredible visibility. The light comes in mainly through both the  roof and the panoramic rear window, giving the cabin a light, airy feel. On particularly bright days, passengers can limit or block the light by activating an electric, sliding curtain (*on selected models).

Comfort

With such a roomy interior, it's no surprise that the Peugeot 308 was designed with the comfort of both driver and passenger in mind. One evidence of this is the optional automatic, dual-zone climate control.
